COVID-19’s rapid onslaught in the early days of the pandemic took many by surprise and many deaths have occurred throughout the world, country, state and county since this unprecedented event began.
Before the first case of COVID-19 was reported in the U.S, Live Oak Senior Care began implementation of emergency preparedness by securing PPE’s before shortages occurred in addition to revising protocol to decrease potential exposure of residents and staff to this potentially deadly virus. Timing is critical in these situations because our senior population is acutely vulnerable to the impact of this global pandemic and Live Oak Senior Care is all about ensuring the safety and security of our residents and staff during these challenging times.
While nothing beats going back to “normal”, there is no question that the quick and decisive actions taken by Live Oak Senior Care to keep their residents thriving and engaged, while also safeguarding everyone’s health, have made the most of an unprecedented situation.
The residents and their families recognize that all the new rules and procedures were adopted with the health and safety of everyone in mind. Over the past several months, families and residents have expressed gratitude and support in a myriad of ways; from one of the most amazing community parades sponsored and supported by family members, elected local, county, state and national officials for our residents to window visitations and sidewalk chalk messages from grandkids and others as well as the smell of 4th of July hamburgers cooking on the grill and encouraging signs and letters made by many!! One resident made a sign that really said it all…. Live Oak Senior Care 34 – COVID-19 0 (representing the number of residents and the number of cases of COVID in our facility. We are proud to say that we continue to be COVID – 19 FREE!!
The dedication of our Live Oak Senior Care team has been nothing short of extraordinary!! Their commitment and tireless efforts to implementing prevention protocols and CDC recommendations has made the critical difference in preventing the invasion of COVID-19 into our facility homes. As so aptly stated by a resident…”We aren’t stuck at home. We’re safe at home!”
With the recent surge in COVID-19 numbers in the Houston area and in Montgomery County, Live Oak Senior Care will remain on lockdown status for as long as necessary to maintain the safety of the residents and staff in our community. Everyone’s understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated and hopefully, we will reach the end of this crisis sooner than expected. Even though everyone wants to be able to see their friends and family, I know that everyone is happier seeing their smiling faces through the door or window than knowing that they could be isolated in a hospital room on a ventilator with caregivers that they hardly know. We are committed to doing everything possible to protect our staff and residents and will begin allowing visitations again as soon as it can be safely done as we continue to monitor the data and science to determine safe.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We will all get through this and the heroes who work at Live Oak Senior Care are counting on everyone to be a team player by adhering to all protocols and restrictions that are currently in place for everyone’s safety and welfare.
